Trying New Things

One of the habits of healthy and happy people is trying new things, and this doesn’t need to be something fearful such as bungee jumping either.  I encourage you to try something new today, or you will find yourself in a rut after doing the same things again and again.  The many ways to mix things up in your life involve changes to your routine and challenging yourself.  I recently did this by joining a hiking club a few months ago and have made it out with them three times now.  The first thing I overcame was my shyness with a group of new people, who basically have welcomed me into their fold.  And while I was receiving all of the benefits from walking in nature, both physically and mentally, I was also able to think about and reflect upon past experiences in my life which have made me happy.  A big part of my success was that I approached this new activity with curiosity and not caution, except for the bear spray in my backpack, that’s necessary caution.  I focused on the fun and enjoyment that came with the activity, laughing and connecting with others.  You start to feel alive when you push your comfort zone.  I told one of the group leaders about my Picapix puzzles on the first outing, and apparently he wasn’t afraid to try something new either, because I understand that he is rather hooked on them now.  I think my next step will be to start a bucket list.  What are you going to try?

The challenging puzzle of this month is called “Bungee!“, it is puzzle #11 on my website.  Have fun with it!

Sincerely,

Diane Baher

How to Play

Where do I start? Begin by choosing two color pencil crayons, erasable ones are best, and designate the darker shade for the puzzle picture. The lighter shade is basically going to be the background and is still very important to solving the puzzle. Starting with an empty grid, and numbers at the top of columns and left end of rows, you work your way through the puzzle by doing what is most logical or obvious, i.e. the biggest numbers.
